Thirds Basketball v. Pioneer Valley Regional School
Overcoming a ten-point deficit at the half, Thirds Basketball dominated Pioneer Valley Regional School with a monstrous second half to garner a 33-30 victory at home on Wednesdayafternoon. The win not only marked the Brookies second straight, but also improved their season mark to 3-8.
Inability to score against a man-to-man defense set the home hosts back in the early going as they managed just four points in the first six minutes of play. But they quickly regrouped to find their shooting range while playing solid defense to keep the deficit at ten for the most part of the first half.
That was when Coach Rios decided to press against the opponent. And the strategy proved effective as his troops forced Pioneer to turn the ball over more than a half-dozen times in the third quarter to help reduce the deficit to four.
With the momentum clearly on their side, the Brookies eventually tied the game at 24-all before going on a 9-1 run to stay ahead for good.
