Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
After a week of rainy practices and a fun dodgeball game, eighteen members of the Eaglebrook Cross Country team set out for their final 5K of the season at Northfield Mount Hermon School this past weekend. Originally set for Deerfield Academy, the rainy week forced the race to be moved to the hilly course of NMH. The boys were excited to see all of their hard work on the hills of Eaglebrook pay off. Led by captains Orlando Doull, Bauer Swift, and Hudson McGuiness, the team toed the line at 3pmready to run fast. The course contained a start on the field and a large loop through hilly trails. It was clear that the Brookies had been training hard, as they took off in front and never backed down. The finish line was full of celebrations for the team, with many personal bests and strong races. Hudson broke the tape, winning the race and setting a 5k season best with the time of 18:37. Close behind him in eighth place was Bauer in 19:30. Ian Bayliss, Ollie Fenner, and Orlando finished out the Eaglebrook top five with times of 20:45, 20:54, and 21:08. Josh Baptiste and Dylan Zhu ran great races, finishing in 21:14 and 22:06. Just behind them were Ryan Robbins (22:15), Ethan Choung (22:19), Chris Pandapas (22:21), Nils Forselius (23:10), and Nick Maggi (23:11), who all broke the top 50. David Zhang, Nick Baker, and Jason Lee worked together to finish strong with times of 23:21, 23:33, and 23:44. Walker Craig (24:16) showed great strength at the finish line and Enrique Yen Chiang (26:02) and Jack de Bruyn Kops (27:07) fought until the very end. There was much to celebrate on the way home, and we thank Northfield Mount Hermon for hosting a terrific race. The team is looking forward to their final race against The Bement School on Tuesday.
