Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
This Saturday marked the last time twelve young men would play at home for the Eagles. Daniel Nixon, Matt Brook, Jack Sun, Ollie Hutchinson, Patrick Plum, Luke Hildebrandt, Qais Hijazi, Felix Tsao, Hans Forselius, Sean Meng, Tim Barry, and Jeff Lim left everything in the pool for the last time in what proved to be an outstanding game between two strong teams. The Eagles were slow to start the first quarter and Deerfield jumped out to an early lead. Their perimeter shooting and powerful hole set stirred up some trouble for the Eaglebrook defense as we started to get our legs underneath us. The first quarter finished with a score of 6 to 5 in favor of Deerfield, but the Eagles were awake now and ready to play. For the next three quarters the Eagles would only allow three goals. Goalies Daniel Nixon, Matt Brooks, and Jack Sun showed their strength and determination by paying in the field and in cage, adding to the powerful EBS defense. Andy Rymes and Hans Forselius were tasked with isolating two of Deerfield’s biggest offensive threats. With help from their teammates they forced difficult shot from outside and shut down opportunities from inside 5 meters. On offense the Eagles had 13 goals scored by 6 players with assists coming from 7 players and 11 Eagles had shots on goal. The boys have been training hard but on Saturday they showed their resiliency and character. They will need it when they head to southern Connecticut for 3 games in 2 days at the end of October.
