Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The Eaglebrook Mountain Bike team traveled to Cardigan Mountain School on Saturday, October 7 for our first race of the season. Twenty of our riders faced off against a Cardigan team that participates in a weekly race series against high school aged students, on their home turf, but our riders weren't intimidated. After pre-riding the race course, all of the chatter from the boys was about how fun the trails were, and the hopes that we could return some weekend soon to ride with Cardigan for fun. As racers were called to the line though, the focus changed to the task at hand. With intermittent rain, the conditions were slick and less than ideal, but the Eaglebrook racers rode hard right out of the gate and challenged the best riders Cardigan had to offer. All the Eaglebrook riders fought hard, and earned points on the slippery course. The wet conditions resulted in a few mechanical problems, and plenty of spills. In the end, Henry Melnik ended up in third place in an exciting sprint finish in the Varsity group, Jonathan Peng solved a mechanical issue on the fly and finished fifth in the JV race, and Alex Alexandrovskiy had an impressive second place finish in the Thirds race. All the boys did well, and some of them in their first ever race. It was a great day, and we thank Cardigan for the strong and friendly competition.
