Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The Eagles welcomed the crosstown Deerfield JV team to the Hill on May 10. Coming off a two-week hiatus from competition due to weather conditions, the boys were ready to get after it against a formidable opponent. Although the excitement was present, the first half was marred by many man-down situations for the Eagles. The Big Green quickly capitalized on many man up plays and also used their speed and strength to get inside Eaglebrook’s defense to find the back of the net early and often. Throughout the first half, the Eagles had limited offensive possessions, but were able to convert a couple of tallies. One on a nice downhill dodge and another on a heads up crease feed from a caused turnover on a tenacious ride. Despite being down 7-2 at half, the boys were determined to play more disciplined defense and settled offense. With increased effort and control, the boys only allowed 2 goals, while also burying one of their own during the third quarter. The final quarter also saw improvement, as the Eagles added two more goals from some great two-man work from behind the net. However, the final stood 12-5 in favor of the visitors, but the Eagles should be proud of the way they battled back and improved throughout the game. They will have a couple more days of practice to prepare for Cardigan Mountain on Saturday at home.
