Varsity Lacrosse at Fessenden for New England Prep Star Jamboree
The Eagles traveled east to the Fessenden School on Sunday, April 23 to participate in the New England Prep Star jamboree. They had three games slated for the day. The first game the boys drew an arduous opponent, the Milton Academy Mustang squad. From the outset, the Eagles were outmatched with the Mustangs speed, strength, and skill throughout the game. Although the Eagles got a few quality chances, the defensive unit saw the majority of the possession time. Despite this obstacle, the Eagles used this learning experience to regroup and acknowledge that it was going to take a higher level of play no matter what the opposition brought to the table. In the second game, the Eagles faced off against the Deerfield Academy JV team and played with more tenacity from start to finish. The boys hung tough with the skilled opponent, but ultimately the Big Green pulled out a 7-4 victory. To cap off the day, the Eagles took on the host team, the Fessenden Bears. The boys really put it together in this matchup as they exhibited great ball movement and finishing skills. Coupled with staunch defensive play, the Eagles were able to bury some key goals down the stretch to walk away with an 8-6 win. The boys enjoyed a great day of lacrosse and showed much progress as the day wore on, becoming more active in the offensive end and more aggressive defensively. The team will continue to use these valuable experiences to build momentum heading into Grandparents Weekend, which begins with an away game at Amherst on Tuesday.
