Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Facing a tough opponent like Loomis is hard at the best of times, but when you are short of three players due to illness and injury and only have 6 healthy players to work with, this was always going to be a tough, tough day. Having said that, the Patriots, Celtics and red Sox mantra of, 'next man up,' applies to this find band of young men. Despite the fact that 5 players were asked to play higher ranked opponents than they had done all season, the boys managed to win three matches and secure a worthy 3-3 tie in their final match of the season, which enabled the team to finish with an incredible 13-3-1 record.
This has been an epic journey since the ground breaking opening win way back in November against Groton, to the wins over Loomis, Deerfield Academy and Berkshire as well as close losses to powerhouses Avon and Taft. We also won our first ever EBS four-team tournament and improved as players across this long, but enjoyable season.
My thanks go to the whole team for their time, energy, effort and application throughout the entire season and to graduating 9th graders Alex, Steven and Kevin for their contributions to our program over the last two years. I am sure they will play Varsity squash at the next level. My thanks also go to Bunrham, Preston, Rohan, Jack, Tad, and John, many of whom will be the mainstays of our team next year.
Finally as ever to my co-coach Calla, who continues to grow as a coach and her time, dedication, and energy was a major reason for our success again this year.
Here's to a great rest of the year and I look forward to hitting the courts again next winter.
