Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Wrestling v. Northfield Mount Hermon, Cardigan Mountain, & Loomis Chaffee
The Eaglebrook Wrestling room was filled today with cheers and excitement as the Eagles faced off against Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH), Cardigan Mountain School, and Loomis Chaffee. In total, there were thirty-four matches and Eaglebrook was in twenty-two of them. Four matches were against Loomis, a strong team with wrestlers from all different weights and grades. The Eagles worked hard to pin three of the Loomis wrestlers, and gained another hard fought match to make it a clean sweep. This will be the only time the Eagles will see Loomis this season, but was a great win, especially for Coach Mahoney, who was able to beat his alma mater.
The next opponent for the Eagles was NMH. They saw NMH last Wednesday in what was a great experience for the team to wrestle 2-1-1 minute periods for the first time this year. Just like last week the Eagles worked hard from start to finish in a total of six matches. Eaglebrook won four of those matches, three by pin, in another great match-up between these two neighbors.
To end the day the Eagles faced off against their rivals, Cardigan. Earlier in the season the Eagles saw Cardigan at the Fay, “Under the Lights,” match three weeks ago. These two storied programs always have sparks and today’s match didn’t disappoint. Between the two teams there were twelve matches. These battles on the mat went back and forth all afternoon. The Eagles were able to take away six victories, five by pin. A great day overall for the Eagles, fourteen wins total, out of twenty-two.
The Eagles now look forward to this Saturday, 1/28, where they will face off against three great junior boarding schools, The Rectory School, Rumsey Hall School, and the Cardigan Mountain School. This is a quad-meet that never disappoints and right now looks to be almost forty matches between the four team. Go Eagles.
