Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
On Tuesday night, the Eagles got back into action against the Springfield Rifles for their second matchup of the season. From the get go, the boys jumped on the opposition with intensity and strong team play. Extensive offensive possessions and disciplined defensive coverage helped the Eagles find success throughout the contest. Great puck movement in the offensive zone lead to the Eagles first tally of the game, as Bauer swift slid the puck to his defensive partner Seamus Cummings who then sent a great re-direction goal to the back of the net off of Keith Davenport’s stick. The Eagles defensive unit did a great job offensively displaying poise and awareness at the blue lines, sending pucks to the net and recognizing where the pressure was coming from. As a result, Pierce Patterson collected a puck from the half wall, walked it to the high slot and sent a laser to the top corner of the net to put the Eagles up 2-0. The Rifles were able to capitalize on a costly turnover at the blue line, which cut the lead in half to close out the second period. However, the boys quickly turned the page and scored the next three consecutive goals (Davenport 2 & Alex Kowal 1) and controlled much of the play for the remaining 15-minutes. Hans Forselius added two well-timed assists, while Kaz Sobieski and Pierce Patterson also added helpers along the way as well. The Eagles penalty kill unit did a phenomenal job of stymieing the Rifles ability to cleanly breakout the puck and set up their man up opportunities. Michael Penna, Jacob Trowt, and Kowal led the charge with the strong man-down play, which almost led to a couple of short-handed goals. Pierce Clarke continued to have a strong performance up front, getting pucks in deep and fore-checking with a purpose. The Eagles will head into two back-to-back games this weekend against Lower Canada College and the Yale Jr. Bulldogs.
