At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
The EBS Varsity soccer team tallied its seventh win of the season with a hard fought 3-1 victory at Kimball Union Academy. Kojo Aduhene opened the scoring just four minutes into the game with a left footed shot from outside the box. The lead was short lived though, as KUA tied the game in the tenth minute. The remainder of the first half was back and forth with neither team maintaining much possession. It was a physical game with lots of fouls on both sides contributing to a choppy performance. EBS stepped up the pressure in the second half though and controlled the proceedings. Diego Gaxiola took a feed from Peter Villani to put EBS up 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining in the game. The scoring chances continued to come for EBS in the final minutes but several near misses kept the game tight. With just three minutes remaining Jay Douglas got his head to a corner kick, which then took an unlucky deflection of a KUA defender and found its way into the net to round out the scoring. Connor Cherry made a couple good saves in net but also came off his line several times to beat KUA attackers to long, through balls. Connor Buettner and Pat Rungsrithong played an excellent second half in the center of defense, helped by Dylan Weichselbaumer, Juan Carlos Garza, Juan Carlos Alverde and Eugenio Lujambio out wide. In the midfield, Drew Parsons played what could be his best game of the season in a holding role, intercepting KUA attacks before they reached the danger zone and kickstarting EBS attacks from deep. Marcelo Saenz also played one of his stronger games in the midfield, demonstrating the aggression that he needs to take his play to the next level. Karsten Nyarady and Keith Davenport manned the wide midfield positions effectively, as did Zach Davis who made the most of his time in the midfield by putting constant pressure on the KUA leftback. Alonso Fernandez and Juan Musi also worked hard up to help lead the attack. Thanks to KUA for hosting us on their outstanding playing fields.
