Yesterday the Eaglebrook JV A Soccer team was hoping to deliver some retribution for their tough loss to Charlemont at home earlier in the season, and due to persistence and hard work were able to come away with very respectable results. Once again our squad had to face the bigger and faster team, albeit on Charlemont's own turf this time. Despite these circumstances, our superior ball handling and playmaking created several scoring opportunities during the first half, though the final touch continually eluded us. As the game went on, the momentum seemed to trade hands again and again as both teams' strengths and weaknesses were brought together. Ben Bolotin made several amazing in goal, and our defense applied consistent pressure as well. At half time both teams remained scoreless, and after a quick pep talk Eaglebrook retook the field. Our squad was shocked early on however by a well placed shot from outside that sailed into the upper left corner, and an eruption of cheers greeted us from the Charlemont bench and spectators. Eaglebrook did well to regain composure and began to work harder than ever. Despite several more opportunities, it seemed that our team would not be able to come up with a goal in time. Suddenly, with less than 8 minutes remaining, fate smiled down on us as a rocket from Carlos Bogaert hit the post and was deflected into the net by Charlemont's keeper. Eaglebrook kept up the pressure and the whistle finally blew, drawing a very tight and well-played game to a close. Jim Yoon, Gus Walsh, John Lee, and Pablo Trevino put in great effort on defense and must be mentioned, along with consistent performance by Santi Ochoa, Nick Hudson, Emilio Salas, Carlos Boegart, Pato Kuri, and Zander Chase on offense. Our MVP mention for the game goes to Ben Bolotin for his amazing communication and perseverance. Well done, Eaglebrook.
