Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Six different JVB players scored goals to lift Eaglebrook to their first home victory with a 7-1 defeat of Charlemont on Wednesday afternoon. The win marked JVBs second straight to start the season. Eaglebrook got things going in a hurry, pressuring the defense and finding the back of the net three times in quick succession. Alvaro Arroyo (Gonzalo Colimodio, assist), Connor Little (Alvero Arroyo, assist), and Anthony Stanley scored goals.
In the second half, Eaglebrook maintained their intensity. A torrent of goals punctuated the second half. This time it was Yuji Andry, Gonzalo Colimodio (Aidan de Cadenet, assist), William Blauvelt (Raul Castells, assist), and Gonzalo Colimodio finding the back of the net.
While Charlemont did end up scoring one goal in the second half, Eaglebrook's defensive effort was relentless and stoic. Joon Hur, Sam Heald, David Garza did an excellent job containing the opposition, recovering control, and distributing the ball downfield, making it nearly impossible for Charlemont to get anything going offensively. Nick Smith and Anthony Stanley demonstrated non-stop hustle, executing quick, adept passes in the midfield. Our transitions from defense to offense were fluid as a result. In the goal keeper Egor Cherenkov had a number of spectacular saves, operating at an elevated level as he has done all season.
Eaglebrook dominated both sides of the ball throughout the game, as the score reflects, but more importantly, JVB played their best game in terms of sharing the ball, using the whole field, staying aggressive, not letting up at the end of the game, and supporting one another. All in all, it was good fun for the team and a great day for Eaglebrook Soccer.
