The 2002 Eaglebrook varsity hockey team didn’t just have a future NHL player - it had TWO!
Mark Fayne ‘03 played seven seasons in the NHL. A true defenseman with a hard shot on offense, Mark starred at Providence College before going on to play for the New Jersey Devils from 2010 to 2014 and later the Edmonton Oilers.
In his time on the Hill, Mark was a natural leader, serving as a dorm proctor. His favorite subjects were math and biology. Like many Eagebrook boys, he took advantage of the opportunities to explore new interests. Mark enjoyed drawing and writing for the Hearth and even started taking guitar lessons. This versatility found its way back to the playing fields with Mark playing both football and soccer at the varsity levels. Learn more about the impact Eaglerbrook had on Mark’s early life in this recent podcast interview with current students.
Though he graduated a year ahead of Mark, Jon Rheaut ‘02 had to wait a number of years before finally getting his shot to play in the NHL with the Florida Panthers during the 2012-2013 season. In all, Jon had twelve successful years as a professional.
Over his two years on the Hill, Jon, like Mark, explored new interests like architecture and photography. He was widely respected by his peers and was named to the Student Council. While Jon was obviously a standout in hockey, he was just as admired for playing the lead in a spoof rendition of Mission Impossible along with his EBS Players’ castmates.
We are so proud of Mark and Jon!
