  • Varsity Hockey v. Academie St. Louis

The Varsity Hockey team played Academie St. Louis Varsity Team from Quebec, Canada over Winter Carnival weekend. The game series between Eaglebrook and ASL was tied at 1-1 with Eaglebrook winning two years ago and Academie St. Louis winning last year. Both teams were ready for another win to pull ahead in the series. The first period started off tight with everyone fighting for every shot on net to get any goals they could. The period would go back and fourth and would soon end in a 0-0 tie. Mid-way through the second period Academie St. Louis scored from a man in front to make it 1-0 and got themselves on the board. Eaglebrook would hang on with a few big saves. Academie St. Louis would some come up with 2 more goals to finish off the period 3-0. Feeling the pressure, Eaglebrook came out hot and kept the puck in the ASL’s defensive end for a good portion of the beginning of the third period making it look as if they were going to come back. Later in the period, ASL scored to make it 4-0, but Eaglebrook would not let down, scoring to make it 4-1. The final buzzer would score resulting in a 5-1 loss for Eaglebrook.

  • Varsity Hockey v. Westminster

The Eaglebrook Varsity Hockey team entered the game against Westminster School on January 29 coming off a win against the Varsity “B” Jamboree All-Star Team (8-4) this past weekend. Westminster scored in the first few minutes of the game before Eaglebrook quickly evened up the score. Tied at 1-1, the Eagles were looking for a second goal to pull ahead and gain the lead. Then not too long after their first goal, they scored a second goal and put themselves in a lead they would not hold onto for long. The Martlets would score to tie the game up, but before the first period was over, Eaglebrook would score twice and make the score 4-2. The second period would end up being full of goals. Eaglebrook held strong and Westminster would not score any more goals the rest of the game. Eaglebrook added three more goals in the second period. The game would end in an 8-2 victory for Eaglebrook.
  • Varsity Hockey v. L'Ecole Polyvalente Gaulois de Disraeli

Coming off a disappointing loss to Berkshire, the Eaglebrook School Varsity Hockey team was ready to get on the ice and win one at home on January 12. Not having played L’Ecole Polyvalente Gaulois de Disraeli before, nobody knew what to expect, but Eaglebrook came to play. Play during the first period extremely tight and you could tell this was going to be an exciting game with outstanding goaltending from both teams. There were no goals scored in the first period and not many penalties. In the second period, there were two quick goals (one from each team) tying the score at 1-1. Everyone was still hungry for goals and wanted to put more on the board. Eaglebrook managed to score two goals and pull ahead to a 3-1 lead in the third period. The team worked extremely hard against this older team and was disciplined and only took one penalty throughout the game. Eaglebrook then netted a fourth goal and finished this exciting game with a 4-1 victory.
  • Varsity Hockey v. Berkshire

After returning from the relaxing winter break and the Toronto Marlboro’s Holiday Classic, the Eaglebrook School Varsity Hockey team faced off against the Berkshire Bears on January 9. The players were exited to get back on the ice at home for the first time in a while. Berkshire came up with two early goals in the first period to gain some momentum in the game to make the score 2-0. Eaglebrook started to feel the heat but kept the game close through half way through the second period when Berkshire slipped 2 more by Eaglebrook to then raise the score to 4-0. Then with a few nice scoring chances, Eaglebrook scored its first goal at 4:09 and their second goal at 2:05 in the second. Berkshire then managed to get a goal with only 31.7 seconds left. Shortly after, at 16:53 in the third period, Berkshire’s final goal was scored to make it 6-2. Though there were many hard fought battles, Eaglebrook couldn’t seem to score another one and the game would end with a 6-2 final.
  • Varsity Hockey v. Mass Conn Braves

On Tuesday, December 18, the second to last day before the winter break, the Eaglebrook Varsity Hockey team faced off against the Mass Conn Braves. One of the people joining us was former manager Robby Veronesi ’07 who sat on our bench once again for our game.
Two minutes into the first period, the Braves scored three goals in less than a minute. Eaglebrook answered by scoring a goal of their own before the end of the first. Moving into the second period after some play review by Coaches Quebec and Langella, Eaglebrook made some adjustments and came out flying. With some incredible heart and determination, Eaglebrook scored three more to finish the second period at 4-3. The third period was a great one for the Eaglebrook team, which scored another four goals to finish the game 8-4.

  • Varsity Hockey v. Catholic Memorial Knights

Coming home after a long road trip, the Eaglebrook School Varsity Hockey team was ready to play for the home crowd on home ice against the Catholic Memorial Knights on December 15. Both teams began the game skating hard and not taking a shift off. Then early in the first period, Eaglebrook scored two goals within 46 seconds of each other. That’s when the momentum was starting to move Eaglebrook’s way, even though Catholic Memorial scored a goal shortly afterwards.
It looked like it was going to be a close game, but in the end Eaglebrook would go on to score five goals in the second period. Eaglebrook would score three more before the final buzzer and would finish the game at 10-1.

  • Varsity Hockey v. Salisbury

On Tuesday December 11, the Eaglebrook School Varsity Hockey team traveled two hours to play the Salisbury School Crimson Knights. Just before the start of the game, former Eaglebrook School Captain Michael McCann ‘07 (now playing on the Salisbury Varsity Team with former Eaglebrook Captain Shawn Manning ’05) stopped by the locker room to give our team some advice and wish us good luck.
The game started out tight but then late in the first period, Salisbury took the lead by scoring to make it 1-0. A few minutes later they scored again to broaden the lead to 2-0. In the second period we scored the momentum shifted back to Eaglebrook and the score became 2-1. With two minutes left in the second period, Salisbury answered back by scoring to increase their lead to 3-1. The team was ready to score some goals at the beginning of the third period, and they were feeling the intensity. Eaglebrook scored a big goal bringing them closer to tying the game up. Then going on the power play with a minute left to play in regulation, Eaglebrook called a timeout to plan their attack. With our goaltender pulled for the extra skater and a six on four player advantage, things would not work out as the clock expired, ending the game with a 3-2 victory for Salisbury. This Saturday, at our McFadden Rink at Alfond Arena Eaglebrook School plays host to the Catholic Memorial Knights at 4:00 PM.
