Varsity basketball vs. The Rectory Tigers

On Saturday the Eagles took the long road trip to Pomfret, Connecticut to face the Rectory Tigers.  Following a big victory on Thursday against Deerfield, The Eagles were feeling pretty good going into this matchup with one of our strongest opponents.  Eaglebrook opened the game with a defensive stop followed by a deep three, opening up their first lead of the game.  The teams battled back and forth over the next few minutes before Rectory began to pull away. With 5 minutes or so left in the first half, Rectory held a 38-15 advantage. Despite falling behind this Brookies continued to work hard and were able to cut into the lead significantly, finishing the half on a 13-0 run.  Eaglebrook continued to hold the momentum during the second half and fought their way back into the game.  Despite runs by the two teams, Eaglebrook managed to tie the game with just over 3:00 minutes left, and had the lead with just over 1 minute to play.  Unfortunately, Eaglebrook came up just short, falling to Rectory 65-64 in the final seconds.

For our next game, we will continue our tour of Connecticut and face the Suffield Academy Tigers on Wednesday at 3:00 pm.
