JV1 Soccer vs. Cardigan Mountain School

Eaglebrook JV1 soccer took the field against Cardigan Mountain School last Saturday for the JV1 season opener. Eaglebrook quickly asserted itself as the dominant team scoring two early goals putting them up 2-0.  As the half wore on, Cardigan and Eaglebrook exchanged another goal apiece, putting the score to 3-1.  Late in the first half Eaglebrook had a strong offensive attack which resulted in a deflected cross from a Cardigan defenseman. On a quick counterattack, Cardigan scored bringing the score at half to 3-2. Eaglebrook was on the backfoot at the start of the second half and let Cardigan take the lead 4-3. The Eaglebrook defense began to rally and punched a ball through to the attacking side of the field. The Eaglebrook midfielders and strikers work dynamically to score an equalizing goal of their own. In the final minutes, each side had a couple of opportunities to take the lead, but when the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read a tie, 4-4.  Eaglebrook is looking forward to a rematch against Cardigan next Saturday to break the current tie.
