Summer Semester Off & Running!

After a virtual summer experience last summer, Eaglebrook's Summer Semester shifted back to an in person boarding experience this year. The 2021 Summer Semester opened on Sunday, July 3, as we welcomed a smaller group of boys and girls this year due to travel restrictions from other nations. There are 43 students, 29 boys and 14 girls. The boys and girls come from eight countries and five states. There are 35 total faculty members with seven being Eaglebrook alumni.

Students arrived on the Hill on Sunday and were quickly acclimated, as there were campus tours followed by an all-school meeting and an ice cream social before bedtime. Students settled into their dorms for the night and rested up for the first day of classes on Monday. Although it was a rainy week, students were able to hit the ground running in the classroom and during the afternoon sports period. On Wednesday, the first home night of the summer took place, some dorm groups ate pizza, others wings, and all enjoyed each other's company. On Saturday, the first ever E-B-S Challenge kicked off with Field Day! The month-long challenge will continue over the next few weeks, some of the events will include Eaglebrook Survivor, a three team simultaneous capture the flag event and reading contest.

Summer Semester is a four-week program for boys and girls aged 10-13. Students have classes, sports, and twice a week take a field trip to various locations around New England.  Classes are held each morning after an assembly and this year there are 26 different classes being offered. After classes, students play sports in the afternoon. Evenings are spent hanging out outside or in the dorms.

Brian Rose, Director of the Summer Semester, said “It feels great to have students back on campus for the summer. While some things have changed due to the pandemic, the core values of the program are fully intact. Students and faculty are energetic and excited about the coming weeks and the adventures they hold.”
