Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
In the face of the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an outpouring of support from members of the Eaglebrook community to make sure hospitals have the resources they need. With the world experiencing a shortage of surgical masks and respirators, many hospitals are in urgent need of protective personal equipment to help contain the spread of the novel coronavirus and allow doctors to safely treat infected patients. Given the depletion of masks in the United States, members of the Eaglebrook community have offered support. After hearing about the rapidly depleting stock of masks in the United States, various families donated N95 surgical masks to the School. Besides sharing the masks with the faculty and staff on campus, the medical staff who serve on the front lines are in much greater need at this moment, therefore the School donated 400 masks to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, 400 to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, and 100 to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Eaglebrook’s Medical Director, Wayne Hioe, who also practices at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton stated, “Cooley Dickinson’s infectious disease team, administrative team, and staff were very appreciative of the donation of N95 masks.” Brenda Wozniakewicz, Director of Health Services dropped off the masks at Baystate Franklin Medical Center and mentioned the nurses were “ever so grateful of the Eaglebrook community.” It is doing good work like this that gets us through difficult times.
