The Thirds’ hockey team had a thriller in the Alfond Arena vs. a very talented and experienced Cardigan team. The game was back and forth and at a high pace, both teams were able to create offense and defend well. Cardigan broke through first and followed with a second goal in the first period. In the second period, Eaglebrook was determined to battle back and scored a goal. The deeper bench of the Cardigan Team proved to be the big difference as the Eaglebrook players faced some fatigue and Cardigan was able to capitalize. In the third period, Eaglebrook was able to tally two more goals, but the Cardigan team was able to match these goals. In the end, Eaglebrook had their best team effort of the season and was recognized by one of the long-time referees as one of the best Thirds’ teams has seen in many years at Eaglebrook. With plenty of season to go and a hot goaltender, we are due for many more exciting and rewarding games in the near future.
