Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Morgan “Mo” Cassara ’89 spoke to the Eaglebrook community as part of the Hilly Chase Speaker Series on Wednesday, October 9. He began by saying, “I think you can learn from somebody's story and what I get to do now, working for CBS, is listen to people’s stories and meet people from all over the country. I’m going to tell you about my story, as I think it’s telling and can help somebody in this room. This is truly the best time of your life. It might seem hard but trust me this is the best time of your life. And, if you have a dream, start chasing it now. You may not know what it is, but you can begin developing your story now, just like I did.”
Mo is currently a college basketball analyst for CBS, but he began his career in coaching. He has coached at all levels of college basketball and is passionate about the work and the dedication it takes to achieve at a high level. Mo was the head coach of Hofstra University from 2010 until 2013 and before that had stops at Boston College, University of Dayton, The Citadel, Clark University, and Worcester Academy.
Mo spoke to the students about taking advantage of opportunities and trying new things. He said, “One of the things I loved about Eaglebrook during my time here is that I did everything. I got to play three different sports, I got to be in the arts; I got to do different things. So often today, you don’t enjoy the experience. Take advantage of all of these wonderful opportunities. Learn, expand, and try different things and enjoy the experience.” Mo also did some mock interviews with the students and gave the community some important tips and tricks for a successful interview.
After seven students got to be interviewed by the CBS analyst, Mo closed by saying, “I want you to go back to the dorm and call somebody whether its somebody in your family and thank them for the opportunity you have here at Eaglebrook because somebody made a sacrifice to help you get here.”
