Mountain Bike Coaches Complete Training

Eaglebrook’s Mountain Biking Coaches were lucky enough to participate in a few days of training in early August. The school hosted the Bike Instructors Certification Program for a Level 1 and Level 2 Certification course. As the Mountain Bike program at Eaglebrook has grown, with over 30 riders in recent years, it has become important for the coaches and student riders to have a common language in which to talk about and learn the sport. The Eaglebrook Mountain Bike program is not specifically a racing program, because it welcomes riders at all levels and inclinations. The BICP certification ensures that the school is offering the best instruction in the fundamentals and skills to riders at all levels, and allows the coaches to rest assured that the riders are progressing with a focus on safety and fun that will hopefully lead to a lifelong love of the sport. “This course exceeded our expectations,” said Head Mountain Biking coach Adam Williams. “The techniques and skills we learned will have a major impact on the Mountain Bike Program at Eaglebrook. We learned so much about the latest instructional techniques and progressed dramatically in our own skills. It was an incredible experience, and all of the coaches are really excited to bring what they learned to the team in September,” he added.
