Varsity Lacrosse v. Groton

On a picturesque Friday afternoon, the Eagles traveled east to take on the Groton School’s JV squad. Sound defense was on display at both ends in the opening quarter, but the Zebras were able to pull ahead 1-0. It remained a back-and-forth affair for much of the second frame, but Groton remained ahead by 1 at half. The Eagles rallied together and a great collective effort to pull ahead 5-4 heading into the fourth quarter. Throughout the contest, the Eagles close defensive unit played a stellar game, pushing out on their opposing attack man, making it hard to generate looks off of their dodges. However, the Zebras were able to reclaim the lead late in the 4th going up 7-6. Despite having a few grade-A looks toward the end of the contest, the Eagles couldn’t find the equalizer and eventually fell by 1 goal. It was a hard fought game and the Brookies should be proud of how they competed for groundballs against a stronger opponent. Next up, the boys host Westminster in a quick turnaround game tomorrow afternoon.
