Varsity Baseball v. Suffield Academy

Eaglebrook Varsity baseball defeated Suffield Academy 4-3 on Thursday afternoon in extra innings. Eaglebrook went three-up, three-down in the first three innings, and fell in a 3-0 hole, but we stayed focused and didn't give up. In the top of the fourth inning, 10-hitter Bob Zhang, recently called up from JV due to Varsity injuries, lead off the inning with a hard-hit ball with two strikes on him that forced a Suffield error, advancing to second base on the overthrow. It proved to be the spark our offense needed. Kiernan Keller, Hans Forselius, Matt Como, and Jack Bradway each came up with huge line-drives and in a flash, the game was tied at 3. Both teams had opportunities to go ahead in the next three innings, including an attempted suicide squeeze by Hans Forselius late in the game, that went awry when the pitch landed in the dirt in front of the plate virtually unbuntable and was picked cleanly by the catcher. On defense, Tynan Creagh came in to close the game, striking out the final two batters in the sixth with two runners on, and then again closing the door in the seventh with the winning run on third base. In the 8th frame, Kiernan Keller reached on an error, and played aggressively on the basepaths, stealing second and third, and then scoring the eventual game-winner on a passed ball. Tynan was lights out in the bottom of the eight, striking out two more, and Eaglebrook came out victorious in one of the best team wins we have had in recent memory.

I really appreciate the time that is put into doing these game summaries. It lets us keep up with the team and gives us enough detail that it feels almost like we were watching live.
