At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Eaglebrook took another tough loss on Saturday, May 5 away against Deerfield Academy's Junior Varsity. It was fun to reunite against former Brookies on the DA team, but the game quickly got competitive as it always is against our cross-town adversaries. Eaglebrook jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first three innings, notching five hits and a number of sacrifices, putting the ball in play and forcing DA to make plays. Unfortunately, Eaglebrook's bats largely went silent after that, and DA took advantage of a number of costly errors late in the game. With the game tied at 4-4, and two outs in the bottom of the 5th, Kiernan Keller got DA's four-hitter to strike out on a low breaking curveball that hit the dirt before the catcher's mitt; Carson Cleage threw down to first and the runner was ruled out. As Eaglebrook was charging in to the bench, the home plate umpire overturned the call, ruling that James Clave's foot had stretched off the bag. This decision unfortunately proved to be the emotional turning point in the game, and DA went on to score two more runs, and then three more in the bottom of the 6th, again all with two outs. Kiernan Keller and Tynan Creagh pitched effectively throughout the contest, giving up eight hits over seven innings, and zero earned runs. We look forward to avenging this loss to Deerfield again at home later in the season.
