Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Wrestling at the Junior New England Wrestling Tournament
Today the Eagles traveled to the Fessenden School for the 49th Junior New England Wrestling Tournament. This tournament is the culmination of the Eagles season and it was circled on the calendar in the wrestling room over seventy days ago. This is what every wrestler on the team has been working for each and every day of the season.
The day began with a beautiful sunrise that made the drive to Newton, MA the most enjoyable ride of the season, especially when the team has traveled through snow, sleet, ice and rain on many of our voyages in the past three months. The team was healthy, allowing them to bring the same boys that wrestled at the Eaglebrook Tournament a week ago to Fessenden, something that usually doesn’t happen due to illness or injury. The team was well prepared to perform their best today and they didn’t disappoint.
Out of the twelve wrestlers that traveled, seven of then placed! The team was able to have two wrestlers place 2nd, three placed third, and two more place 4th. The team had some amazing matches throughout the course of the day. They showed the utmost sportsmanship and cheered on each other from the first match to the last. In the end, the race for team points was an extremely close one. The Eagles walked away 5th overall, out of twelve teams and were just 10 points away from 3rd place overall.
This season will be marked up as being an extremely successful one for the Eagles. This team completed their goals of always showing the best sportsmanship, along with being one of the toughest teams in New England, mentally and physically. Great work Eagles and now it’s time to begin getting ready for next season.
