Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Eaglebrook’s 96th Winter Carnival weekend was held from February 2 – February 3. Parents attended classes with their children on Friday, see photos from the class day here. The afternoon brought a concert from the Music Department featuring the string orchestra, the band, the jazz band, the chorus, the Eaglebrook Ad Libs, and piano soloists. See photos from the concert here.
After classes, the concert, and afternoon sports, many parents took in an evening performance of the 2018 Winter Carnival Play, Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”. Watch a scene where Trinculo, played by Nick M. ’18 and Stephano, played by Ethan C. ’18 are cajoled by the monster Caliban, played by Chris P. ’18 to take revenge on Prospero. See photos from the performance here.
The morning of Winter Carnival dawned bright and cold. Up first was the cardboard sled race featuring Headmaster Andrew Chase’s sled, Eddie the Eagle, up against the winner of the cardboard sled design contest, a motorcycle sled called “Fatboy” built by Liam L.’20 and Ohm P.’20. This year the race was a bit lopsided, as Mr. Chase flew down the mountain in Eddie, leaving Fatboy in the dust. Watch the race here.
After the cardboard sled races, dorms participated in the three-legged race, the Klondike sled races, jack jumping, ski jumping, and giant slalom races to win points for their dorm. By the end of the morning, the winner of the Winter Carnival Cup was clear: Flagler House. Saturday afternoon was filled with athletic games and parent-teacher conferences.
