Meet the staff of the Eaglebrook Middle School Center for Teaching & Learning below.
Paul B. Cyr-Mutty is the Director of the Eaglebrook Center for Middle School Teaching and Learning. A faculty member at Eaglebrook for 31 years. In his career, he has taught English and World Views, and also coached football, skiing, and tennis and served as a Dorm Head, English Department Chair, Summer Semester’s Academic Director, and Safety Coordinator. Paul graduated from Middlesex School, earned his BA and certification as a secondary school English teacher at Connecticut College, received his MALS from Wesleyan University writing his thesis on the fool as a transitional character in Shakespeare’s comedies and tragedies, and earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania in 2017, writing his dissertation on using reality-based scenarios as a technique for helping novice faculty learn a relational approach to teaching.
Rachel Blain has been teaching at the middle school level for 33 years. With initial steps in elementary and high school, she came to Eaglebrook as a substitute and discovered the charm of teaching middle school boys. Three decades later, Rachel has served as dorm parent, coach, department chair, mentor teacher, and associate in the Curriculum Office. A Philips Academy and Amherst College graduate, Rachel pursued her M.A.T. in French at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. At Eaglebrook Rachel has found a home base in the English department.
Melissa Rudder has been involved in the non-profit and educational world for 16 years. She has served as an Assistant Director of Studies in the Curriculum office for the past four years and now serves as a Professional Development & Curriculum Facilitator for Eaglebrook. Her background includes working administratively in a public school system, serving in leadership roles in several nonprofit organizations, developing a variety of online CEU courses and educational workshops for professionals in different fields, and serving as a consultant to guide organizations in creating a strategic values-based approach to the implementation of their mission, vision, and leadership. Her M.Sc degree in Applied Conflict Studies and Mediation with a focus in Organizational Development provides a relational, facilitative, and systems-based lens to her work.
