The Eagles traveled North up to Montpelier to take on the Vermont Jr. Glades for a two-game weekend. Making a few stops along the way, at Visitor Centers and Mister Z’s pizza, the Eagles finally landed at the Central Vermont Memorial Civic Center. Friday night’s game got off to a quick start as the Glades came out flying, showing a strong presence in the Eagle’s zone. However, Connor Cherry and the defensive core provided solid play and kept their composure, while shutting down the opposing chances early on. Reid Clemmenson sparked the Eagles offensive attack, as he barreled up the right side of the ice and ripped a shot off the goalies pad. Chance Gorman’s ability to be in the right spot at the right time allowed him to bury home the kicked-out rebound. From there the Eagles never looked back. With efforts from top to bottom, Eagles continued to roll out players and provide consistent pressure in the Glades zone. The Eagles scored two more goals in each of the remaining periods. Gordon Cummings and Jacob Presnal added a goal apiece off of strong rushes and Gorman capped off his hat trick with a short-handed goal as well. Jack Pagano and Sam Born both had strong performances, creating scoring chances of off turnovers. Jack Sohmer and Andrew Parsons also showed great toughness as they blocked multiple shots late in the game. It was a great team win, as all 18 players contributed and Connor Cherry spearheaded the shutout effort to kick the weekend off to a great start.
After visiting Burlington center, the Eagles traveled to the Central Vermont Memorial Civic Center one last time to close out the weekend series. The Eagles continued to strive and pick up where they left off, matching their effort from the previous night and getting contributions from all around. Gianni Demerski sparked the Eagles offensive attack off of a nice pass from Jack Sohmer. Chance Gorman continued his strong weekend performance adding his first of four goals on the game to make it 2-1 after the first period of play. Dylan Weichselbaumer, Kevin Kuzmeski and Garrett Moe all played hard-nosed hockey and displayed great two-way play throughout the contest. The offense received strong support from the defensive pairings of William Graney and Joe Bouchard and Jacob Mehl and Charlie Kenyon. Both pairings exhibited strong defensive play, moving pucks quickly and accurately up ice. Ryan Metcalf relieved Connor Cherry late in the third period and did not disappoint. Off of a scramble in front of the net, Ryan made a great sprawling paddle save. Both results favored the Eagles as a result of strong team performances. With strong play in all three phases of the game the Eagles departed Montpelier to head to Dummerston, VT for their last stop. The Gadowski family welcomed the Eagles for dinner and a skate on their pond out back. The pond skate capped off the fun-filled weekend and the team looks to build off these two games heading into their Home Night game next week.
