Thirds Baseball v. Cardigan Mountain School
The Thirds baseball team traveled to Canaan, NH for the final game of the season at Cardigan Mountain School. After a season of rainouts and losses, the Eagles were hungry for a win. The weather was warm, sunny, and seemed to promise a win.
The game started out as a stalemate through three innings -- a pitcher's duel, aided by solid defense in the infield and outfield. Alex Khanna got the start and pitched three strong innings. Paul de Bruyn Kops pitched the last three innings of the six-inning match. Both Eagles located the ball well and were stingy with the walks.
The game opened up as the afternoon progress, especially in the fourth and fifth innings. Eaglebrook took advantage of wild pitches to advance runners around the bases and some well-placed hits brought them home. CMS threatened in the sixth inning with some runners on base, but an interference call resulted in a quick two outs. De Bruyn Kops fielded a grounder to Max Massoni at first base to end the game and secure the first glorious win of the season.
