Varsity Tennis v. Cardigan Mountain School
Result: Win 9-3
On Saturday, the Varsity tennis team traveled two hours north to take on our rival Cardigan Mountain School for Cardigan Day! This was our first time playing Cardigan this year, as the first scheduled match was rained out. Today’s match was also our final match of the year, so our team was motivated to head into summer vacation on a positive note. After a long warmup, we began with the singles matches. We came out firing on all cylinders and won 6 of the 8 matchups and clinched the match win before the doubles matches begun. To Cardigan’s credit, they didn’t give in and played stellar in doubles. However, our team fought hard winning 3 of the 4 doubles matches. Our doubles teams communicated well and were certainly gracious winners.
For our Sixth Formers, it was their last match sporting an Eaglebrook jersey and their play did not disappoint, as they played their best tennis of the season. We will certainly miss our four Sixth Formers but are excited that half the team will be returning next year. Although a rainy season, our team remained focused throughout the spring and finished with a winning record. Coach Townsend and I are proud of the way our team competed against impressive competition throughout the season. Lastly, many thanks to Alex Edwards, Luke Williams and Jordan Stempel for their support this season.
