Varsity Baseball v. Deerfield Academy

Eleven was the magic number for Eaglebrook on Tuesday afternoon, as the team totaled 11 hits and 11 RBIs, and James Clavel pitched a complete game gem with 11 strike outs, en route to an 11-1 win against Deerfield Academy.

It was one of the team's most prolific days at the plate despite the cold, dreary weather. The team scored runs in the first, third, fifth, and sixth innings, and never allowed Deerfield a chance to turn the tide.

Carson Cleage had 3 RBIs, Kiernan Keller went 3-4, and Ryan McHugh went 4-4 with 5 RBIs, powering the offense. Bobby Miele smacked his first double of the season, and Landon Whayne and Liam Lichocki contributed with hits as well.

James Clavel was excellent on the bump, scattering only four hits, four walks, and one run over six innings. Deerfield's only real window of opportunity came in the bottom of the third, when they put together a two-out rally, loading the bases for the top of their lineup.

James did not let it rattle him, showing off his grit and poise throughout the rally, allowing only one run before forcing a pop out to right fielder Liam Lichocki to end the inning. While we weren't happy about surrendering a run, at least it was a Brookie who crossed the plate for Deerfield—Rocky Xia, Eaglebrook class of 2018!

Eaglebrook is now 7-0 and looks to stay hot this Thursday at home against Suffield Academy, who will surely be looking to avenge their extra innings loss to Eaglebrook last season.
