Track at Bement Invitational
On Saturday, May 11, Eaglebrook hosted the Bement Invitational track meet, a competition between the Bement, Amherst, Longmeadow, Hampshire, and Eaglebrook track teams. On a beautifully sunny spring morning, many of the athletes in attendance showed impressive determination, support for their teammates, and sportsmanship toward their opponents. The Eaglebrook squad established itself as a top competitor among the teams at the Invitational. Many Eaglebrook athletes achieved personal best times and distances in their events, scored points for their team, and used the skills they have been practicing in training to reach their goals. Standout performances for the Eagles came from many athletes including Mark, Luke, Rohan, and Declan in the 4 x 100m relay, Mark in the discus, Declan in the high jump, Hudson in the 1500m and 800m, Marley in the 1500m, Rohan in the 400m, Luke in the 200m, and Sebastian in the 100m hurdles. Many athletes tried events for the first time in competition, including Meredith in the shot put and long jump and Sebastian, Alex, Dotun, and Sean in the 100m hurdles. A highlight of the meet was when the team gathered together at the end of the running events to cheer on the 4 x 400m relay runners, Conan, Ian, Gus, and Dotun, who gave their best effort in this team event. The camaraderie and teamwork among the athletes on the Eaglebrook team was apparent throughout the meet. The Eagles look forward to another invitational track meet at the Hillside School on May 18.
