Thirds Basketball v. Hopkins Academy

The Brookies fell 36-28 in a run-n-gun affair, hosted by Hadley’s own Hopkins Academy. It was the last day before spring vacation for the Hopkins Golden Hawks, and the Hadley residents were supercharged for the matchup. The refs called the game lightly throughout, which meant Eaglebrook did not find its way to the free throw line as much as usual. Hopkins took the early lead, as inconsistent defensive pressure put the Brookies in a hole. Individual standouts on defense included “Hustle Award” all-stars Meredith Bedell, Jules de Beauport, and Liam Shea. On the whole, however, the Brookies did not bring the energy to match the Golden Hawks’ exuberance. Despite a late-game rally, led by Nate Roachford, Eaglebrook could not get over the hump. The Brookies will look to rebound with a strong finish as the end of the season comes into view.
