Thirds Basketball v. Four Rivers
Thirds Basketball came up short against Four Rivers by six in a 26-20 final on the road on Wednesday afternoon to fall to a 3-5 mark for the season.
The Eagles opened the game strong against the club that easily handled them in their first meeting last month by implementing a suffocating defense that held the opponents to two points in the first four minutes of the contest. But the once 8-2 lead would dwindle for the visitors as Four Rivers dominated on the offensive glass with several put-back buckets to grab a slim 13-11 lead at the half.
Failure to secure the defensive glass continued to haunt the Eagles in the second half as Four Rivers turned the offensive rebounds into points to lead it by as many as nine with under five minutes to play in regulation time.
The Eagles managed to fall within six of their opponents in the closing minutes of the game with a big three from Jeff Moon that made it 26-20. But it was too little too late for them as the home hosts held their grounds despite being shut out on offense the rest of the way to keep the victory intact.
