Thirds Basketball v. Kingswood Oxford
On the weekend of Winter Carnival, Eaglebrook played host to Kingswood Oxford. The visitors were a feisty squad with a short bench, meaning every player got more than their share of minutes (and fouls). The Brookies started off slow and struggled to find an early rhythm. It wasn’t until the home team dug their heels in defensively that the offense began to click. A press-style defense pushed Kingswood Oxford out of its comfort zone and the Brookies rallied to close the gap midway through the second half. The rally fell short, resulting in a 41-24 loss, but Thirds will have two more games in the coming week to turn its season around. The game’s unofficial “Hustle Award” is a two-way tie between Nate Roachford and Meredith Bedell. Nate led the press in the second half, forcing several turnovers and poor decisions by the other team. Meredith held her ground down in the low post, applying a defensive presence that suffocated Kingswood Oxford’s bigs.
