Varsity Hockey Doubleheader v. Vermont Flames
The Eagles took their annual road trip up to Burlington VT to take on the Vermont Flames in a two game series. As usual, neither game disappointed.
The first game saw the Eagles jump out to a 1-0 lead. The following 20 minuets were a stalemate, with both teams playing good hockey. The Eagles would open things up in the 3rd period as they netted 4 un-answered goals winning 5-0.
The Eagles would leave the rink and head to the campus of UVM to get a locker room tour of Gutterson Arena. On the tour the team was able to meet some of the UVM players and ask questions to them and their coaches. After a quick stop at Al’s French Frys the boys were back at “The Gut” to watch the Catamounts win a 4-3 overtime thriller.
The next day, the Eagles once again played a good Vermont Flames team. The Eagles went down 2-1 in the first but battled back to tie it 2-2 after the 2nd. The 3rd period saw each team have a handful of opportunities but neither was able to convert. With 32.8 seconds remaining the Eagles executed a neutral zone faceoff to spring a two on one that resulted in the game winning goal with 18.2 seconds still on the clock. The Eagles will return to action this coming Wednesday when they take on Pomfret School.
