Wrestling at Fay Tournament (Friday Night Lights)

Friday Night Lights is an annual event held at the Fay School where they host several basketball games and more importantly a competitive wrestling match between the Fay School, Cardigan Mountain School, and Eaglebrook. Three great wrestling teams squaring off in front of the entire Fay School community and also online (https://youtu.be/BSK07PEgpXo).

Fay and Cardigan wrestled each other first in what was a quick match. This gave the Eagles a chance to scout out their competition during these early matches. Once this match was over it was the Eagles chance to face Cardigan. There were only eight matches total and this was a nail-biter. Both teams managed to win four matches each. One of the Eagles wins came off of a Cardigan wrestler being disqualified due to him performing an illegal move by accident, however, this move hurt one of Eagles. Due to this Eagle being unable to finish his match he earned the win. The Eagles were able to squeak out the win by one point due to a major decision victory, 19-18 win.

As Cardigan left, all attention now turned to the match between Fay and Eaglebrook. Eaglebrook knew that every match would matter in this meet and that they needed to get a win by a pin when they could and not give up pins. The match seesawed back and forth throughout the entire match. Out of fifteen total matches, the Eagles won seven of them, all by pin. Fay was able to win eight matches, however, six were by pin and two by decision. Based on how team points are added up both teams walked away with forty-two points each, a tie! The Eagles earned this tie and Fay was a gracious host and opponent.

The Eagles still are not at full health but are working hard to get that way. Next week they will travel to Eagle Hill to wrestle a high school junior varsity match against several teams, and then they will host their last home meet of the year on Winter Carnival against Keene Middle School. A busy week ahead for the Eagles.
