A junior boarding and day school for boys in grades six, seven, eight, and nine
Thirds Basketball v. Cardigan Mountain School
What looked to be a close game at the end of the first half turned into a decisive win for Eaglebrook as the home team turned up the defensive pressure in the second half against the visiting team from Cardigan Mountain School. Tenacious defense held CMS at bay and solid passing maximized the Eagles’ scoring opportunities to start the season off with a win.
Offensive highlights included good floor general skills from Nate Roachford and Chris Markowski. Daniel Coffy flashed his shot from the outside as well as his willingness to drive hard to the basket. Players like Paul de Bruyn Kops and Liam Shea demonstrated a knack for winning tough balls. Frank Zhang and Kodai Goodrow kept possessions alive with good ball rotation. And Leo Shi was dominant at times beneath the backboard, fighting for rebounds and second-chance points.
The defensive performance was a team effort and the true star of the game. Hands up, high energy defense flummoxed the Cougars, limiting them to single-digit points in the second half. The defensive presence and positioning of players like Meredith Bedell, William Kim, and Jules de Beauport shut down the opposing team’s passing lanes, forcing bad shots and turnovers.
The final score was 36 to 24 and it was a true team win. The Eagles will have no time to rest on their laurels as game schedule picks up pace with another match in the coming week.
