A junior boarding and day school for boys in grades six, seven, eight, and nine

Wrestling v. Cardigan Mountain School

This Saturday, eight wrestlers made the early morning trek up to the snow-covered campus of Cardigan for their annual Cardigan Mountain School Wrestling Tournament. Eaglebrook could only bring eight because several of their Sixth Form wrestlers were taking the SSAT’s, leaving the team short-handed, but eager to accept the challenge to represent the team.

Five of the wrestlers who went were first years and this was their first tournament, then, the other three wrestlers were in their second year of wrestling, but still relatively new to tournaments. These eight boys came together to cheer on and support each other throughout the day and in the end, the team came home with some hardware. Eaglebrook was able to capture one 2nd place, two 3rd place, two 4th place, and one 5th place finish on the day. That means that of the eight wrestlers Eaglebrook brought, five finished in the top half of their brackets, quite the accomplishment for these wrestlers, and it was a Varsity tournament.

These guys will get a one day rest and then get right back into the wrestling room with the rest of the team to learn and improve their technique in order to get ready for Northfield Mount Herman’s JV squad who will be on the Hill this Wednesday.
