Adult Summer Art Workshop

June 21 - 22, 2025

This summer workshop for adults is hosted by Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts. The campus includes a new science and art building with an adjacent pond where we will conduct several lessons. The pond is loaded with critters and the perfect spot to spend an afternoon investigating and sketching. Additionally, the campus includes 800+ acres, most of which are wooded with miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. There are also quite a few geocaches in these woods. Learn tips and tricks for drawing and creating vivid pages that depict personal natural history experiences in this fun Nature Drawing Retreat. All skill l evels, from beginner to advanced artists are welcome. If you love the idea of making art and engaging with nature, this workshop is for you.

The summer 2025 per-person rate of $375.00 includes lodging in a dorm room (single occupancy) for one night, all meals from lunch on Saturday through lunch on Sunday, and all lessons and activities.

Saturday, June 21 - Welcome

9:00-10:00 a.m. Arrive and settle into your room
10:00 a.m. Meet for Introductions and gesture drawings
12:00 p.m. Lunch
Afternoon: Investigate local nature and pond life, Painting and Drawing demonstrations
6:00 p.m. Dinner
Evening options: hiking, lawn games, campfire social, painting practice

Morning and afternoon activities may include time to practice art, hikes, fishing, social time, and games on the lawns in the center of campus. We are also located very close to the Deerfield River and other great fly fishing spots.

Please Bring:

A water bottle
A lightweight, portable chair
A high-quality journal with heavyweight, mixed media, or watercolor paper
HB pencil or mechanical pencil
An eraser
Micron pen (or equivalent) size 01 and/or 005
Optional: your preferred art media such as watercolor, gouache, or colored pencils.
