The Return to Campus

We have developed the following for your planning and the procedures will hopefully ensure a safe return to campus in January. Please note that these procedures are subject to change.

List of 6 items.

  • Remote Learning Period - December 1 - 17

The winter trimester begins with the December Remote Learning period from Tuesday, December 1 to Thursday, December 17.

    • Classes will run 9:00 a.m - 11:45 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday.
    • All seven blocks will meet using a modified rotation, with 3 blocks meeting per day, each running for 45 minutes. There will be a 15-minute break between classes.
    • Live class sessions will operate using Zoom. Sessions will be recorded and made available to those students who cannot participate because of their time zone.
    • Each block, A-G, will meet 5 times throughout the Remote Learning period.
    • Teachers will continue to use myEBS to post assignments and communicate expectations.
    • It will be important for students to have a designated space to engage in classes, and they should have access to the internet.

  • Prior to Arrival

All students will be required to follow the Code of Behavior 14 days prior to arrival on campus.  Boarding Students will need to have a negative COVID-19 PCR test 1-7 days prior to arrival.

COVID-19 tests are available at no cost nationwide at health centers and select pharmacies in the U.S. Please go to Community Based Testing Sites for COVID-19 for options for COVID-19 testing by state.

Domestic companies that do home COVID-19 PCR testing are:

    LabCorp
    RUCDR by Vitagene
    RUCDR by Vault Health
    PrivaPath Diagnostics
    Phosphorus Diagnostics

  • Boarding Students Return - January 5

Students will need to arrive back to campus by 8:00 p.m. and be moved into their dorm room. Upon arrival at the dorm, students will need to check-in at the Baines parking lot with proof of a negative COVID test. All students must be negative in order to enter the dorms.

If students are unable to arrive on January 5, the next opening for arrivals will be March 23.
  • Stage 1 - January 6 - 14

All Boarding Students will quarantine in their dorm rooms, participate in classes remotely, wear surgical masks, and complete the Ruvna questionnaire daily, and all meals will be delivered to the dorms. The Health Center will administer an initial COVID-19 PCR test on January 6 followed by another COVID-19 PCR test on January 11 and results will be back within 2-3 days (January 12-15).

Day Students will be tested at the Health Center in the afternoon on Thursday, January 7, and Friday, January 8, and will participate in classes remotely from home beginning on Wednesday, January 6.
  • Stage 2 - January 15

If all tests come back negative, Stage 2 will start on Friday, January 15, which will be the first-day of in-person classes, and Boarding Students can begin eating in the Dining Hall.
  • Stage 3 - January 18

If campus is without a confirmed or probable COVID-19 case, the School will move to Stage 3 on Monday, January 18.
