The Return to Campus

We have developed the following for your planning and these procedures will hopefully ensure a safe return to campus for the spring term in March. Please note that these procedures are subject to change.

Procedures

List of 7 items.

  • Prior to Arrival

    • All students will be required to follow the Code of Behavior 14 days prior to arrival on campus.
    • INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS: Effective January 26, 2021, per a presidential executive order; international arrivals must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result procured no more than three days prior to departure. Airlines will be required to confirm the negative test result for all passengers before they board and must deny boarding to those passengers who do not have a negative test result.
    • All students must complete the RUVNA health questionnaire on Tuesday, March 23, before they arrive on campus, and continue to do so every morning going forward. 
  • Boarding Students Return: March 23

    • Students should arrive by 6:00 p.m. and check-in at the Baines parking lot. Parents, guardians, and drivers are asked to remain in their vehicles, and students should remain in their vehicles until approached by a security officer or administrator.  
    IMPORTANT NOTES: 
    • Student belongings will be shuttled to the dorm in school vehicles and students will walk to their dorms.  
  • Quiet Period: March 24 - 25

    Students are on-campus for travel quarantine until PCR arrival test negative. 
    • Remote learning starting March 24 for Boarding and Day Students. 
    • The Health Center will administer an initial COVID-19 PCR test on March 24 for all Boarding and Day Students. Day Students will be tested from 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. in the Sports Center. 
    • Evaluation and testing of students and employees based on daily symptom checks and health questionnaires through Ruvna. 
    • Students will generally stay in their rooms and avoid contact with others (exception is roommate; pods of two).
    • Students permitted to stand in their room doorway and talk to other students. 
    • Mask wearing at all times except while in dorm room and dorm bathrooms. 
    • Boarding Students are not allowed to have visitors in their dorm room. 
    • Students asked to physically distance 6 feet from others outside the student's dorm room. 
    • Students may go outside with their roommate and a faculty member, masks on and 6 feet apart. 
    • Students may play outside with roommate or others from their quad masked and 6 feet apart
    • Food delivered to dorms and should be eaten in dorm room. 
  • Stage 1: March 25 - 31


    • All Boarding and Day Students PCR testing on March 29. Day Students will be tested from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. in the Sports Center.
    • Mask wearing will continue indoors, except while in one's dorm room or engaging in personal hygiene, or eating, or drinking. 
    • Visitors are not permitted in one's dorm room. 
    • Students may walk outside/play with those in their quad and a faculty member, masks on and 6 feet apart. 
    • Food delivered to dorms and should be eaten in dorm room or outside if 6 feet apart from others. 
    • If low concern for unrecognized cases on campus, consider expanding pods to the quad. 
  • Stage 2: March 31 - April 7

    • In-person classes begin.
    • Spring Athletics program begins.
    • All Boarding and Day Students PCR testing on April 5. After April 5, all-day students tested weekly, boarding students tested on alternate weekly schedule.
    • Mask-wearing will continue indoors, except while in one's own dorm room or engaging in personal hygiene, or eating, or drinking.
    • Students on the same quad may gather in the dorm common room or outside, masks on, without minimum physical distance.
    • Students on the same floor may gather in the dorm common room, masks on and more than 6 feet apart.
    • Students can gather outside with masks on and more than 3 feet apart.
    • Students are not permitted in other student’s dorm rooms.
    • Facial coverings are required for all athletics, can be dropped when more than 15 feet apart.
    • If there is a concern for unrecognized positive cases or close contacts on campus, go back to Stage 1.
  • Stage 3: April 7 - 21

    • Air Knock mask-wearing will continue indoors, except while in one's own dorm room or engaging in personal hygiene, or eating, or drinking.
    • Students from the same quad may visit rooms of others from the same quad.
      • Monday - Friday from 4:30 p.m. to dinner
      • Saturday after morning WEA to bedtime. 
      • Sunday after WEA to Sunday Meeting. 
      • Everyone in the room must have a mask on.
      • Door to room must be open.
      • Double Rooms may have up to two guests from their quad.
      • Single Rooms may have one guest from their quad. 
    • Students from the same floor may gather in their dorm common room, masks on, without minimum physical distance.
    • Students in the same dorm, different floors can gather in the dorm common room, masks on, and more than 6 feet apart. 
    • Students can begin eating by floor in the dining hall. 
    • Students can gather outside with masks on without physical distancing, but minimize physical contact.
    • Facial coverings are required for all athletics, can be dropped when more than 15 feet apart.
    • Sports games permitted.
    • If there is a concern for unrecognized positive cases or close contacts on campus, go back to Stage 2. 
  • Stage 4: April 21 - May 26

    • Mask-wearing will continue indoors, except while in one's own dorm, or during meal times. 

    • Students can visit rooms of others within their own dorm, door open, double rooms may have up to two guests, single rooms may have one guest. 

    • Mask-wearing will continue outdoors. 

    • Facial coverings are required for all athletics but can be dropped when more than 15 feet apart. 

    • If there is a concern for unrecognized positive cases or close contacts on campus, go back to Stage 3.
