The Green Cup Challenge
The Challenge at Eaglebrook
Each year Eaglebrook competes in the Green Cup Challenge, which takes place during the month of February. The goal of this national student-driven challenge is to reduce energy use on campus and bring awareness about energy consumption. Eaglebrook is one of many schools competing in the challenge, and is the only exclusively middle school in the country to take on the challenge. The goal of the challenge at Eaglebrook is to teach the students about their role in energy usage.

The 2007-2008 school year was the first time Eaglebrook competed in the challenge, placing 24th overall and reducing energy consumption in the dorms by 3.44% Eaglebrook placed 10th overall in the 2009 Green Cup Challenge, decreasing energy use by 10.41% for the entire campus. Eaglebrook placed 5th in the 2010 Green Cup Challenge, reducing energy usage on campus by 15.43%.

The buildings included in the challenge will be: Kravis House, Mayer House, Flagler House, Macy House, Halsted House, the Learning Center, the Science Building, the Bryant Building, Baines House, Gibbs Dining Hall, the Lodge, Eagle's Nest, Little Hundridge, Swift House, the Gym, the Maintenance building, Fox Ridge House, Rice's Ferry House, Davis House, Schwab Pool, and the Alfond Arena. In the 2010 Green Cup Challenge, Eaglebrook has decreased energy use by 15.43% for the entire campus over the four weeks. The winner of the Green Cup Dorm Challenge at Eaglebrook was Mayer House. The residents of Mayer decreased their energy usage by 9% during the Green Cup Challenge. Eaglebrook School placed 5th in the overall 2010 Green Cup Challenge out of 51 total schools. Eaglebrook placed 10th overall in the 2009 Green Cup Challenge, decreasing energy use by 10.41% for the entire campus, and 21st in the 2008 Green Cup Challenge, decreasing energy use by 5%.
