Why would you send a sixth-grade boy to boarding school? Shouldn't a ninth-grade student start high school? What is a junior boarding school? Make an appointment to visit us today and learn why Eaglebrook, a boarding and day school for boys in middle school, might be the right place for your son.
Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. Learn about the programs we offer at Eaglebrook, from athletics to arts.
At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
Field Trip day happens once a year at Eaglebrook. Every Form has a day to explore a different theme, and often they leave campus to do it. This year, the Sixth Form visited the Museum of Science in Boston; Fifth Formers spent time at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts; Fourth Formers spent the day at Minuteman National Historical Park in Concord, Massachusetts, and the Third Form was in the woods on the Eaglebrook campus.
The Sixth Formers were continuing their study of Biology while at the Science Museum, but they also got to take a peak at the design challenge exhibit. See photos here. The Fifth Form students went first to Faneuil Hall for lunch and then took guided tours of the Museum of Fine Arts in small groups. Photos of the Fifth Form are here. All Eaglebrook Fourth Form students study Colonial History, so a day at Minuteman National Historical Park gave them a sense of place for their study of that period. See photos from their trip here. The Third Form students began their morning getting a sense of what it means to be prepared outdoors: they learned how to build shelters and find north, south, east, and west. They also continued with their study of place. The day ended for them at the Schwab Pool, where they practiced tipping and righting canoes. See Third Form photos here.
Field Trip day changes little year to year. Each Form gets to get away and spend a day doing something different that enhances what they are learning in the classroom.
